“The tradition of Azerbaijani youth studying abroad has existed since the Soviet era”.
Aztəhsil.az reports that these words were spoken by Ceyhun Huseynov, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation, during his speech at an event titled “Distinguish Yourself with Education: Global Experience, National Value”.
According to him, during that period, special attention was paid to training highly qualified specialists for the country's development, and hundreds of Azerbaijani youth were sent to study at prestigious higher education institutions of the Soviet Union every year.
C. Huseynov noted that this policy continued during the period of independence. Thus, based on the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated April 16, 2007, the “State Program on Education Abroad” covering the years 2007–2015 was prepared, and conditions were created for thousands of Azerbaijani youth to study at prestigious universities abroad.
He emphasized that he himself was once a participant in that state program and studied at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), located in Moscow, the capital of Russia. This higher education institution is one of the prestigious universities where renowned diplomats and politicians of the world are trained.
C. Huseynov noted that studying abroad is not only a great opportunity for young people but also plays an important role in shaping their knowledge and worldview. This experience creates conditions for young people to make a greater contribution to the country's development in the future.
