Parents and teachers who beat a child for disciplinary purposes - will be fined this much

The rules for applying corporal punishment to children are changing.

Aztəhsil.az reports that this is reflected in the proposed amendment to the Code of Administrative Offenses, which was discussed at today's joint meeting of the Milli Majlis's Legal Policy and State Building and Human Rights committees.

According to the project, parents (persons replacing them), employees of educational, medical, social service, sports, cultural, recreational institutions, and penitentiary institutions responsible for supervising children, will be fined in the amount of two hundred manats for applying corporal punishment to a child, i.e., committing physical and (or) psychological violence against a child for the purpose of upbringing or as a disciplinary measure.
